Asphalt roofing replacement

It may be time to replace your cedar shake roof

A Cedar Roof Replacement in the Okanagan is known to roofers as a Cedar Conversion and comes with plenty of homeowner questions and concerns. With our knowledgeable management team and experienced Cedar Conversion crews in Kelowna we know we can guide you through the entire process.

What is the Cedar Conversion Process?

Pinnacle Roofing only recommends you replace your cedar shakes with a more durable and fire resistant product like a modern laminated fibre glass shingle. They are much more suited to the harsh dry and hot weather conditions that we experience in the Okanagan. They have a longer roofing warranty and come in countless styles and colour options.

The process includes removing the old shakes, adding strapping to your roof and sheeting it in 7/16” OSB, then synthetic roofing paper and the shingle of your choosing is installed. All old roofing material is placed in a bin and hauled to be recycled.
The most common issues with a Cedar Shake Roof can be visually inspected from the ground.

These are the most concerning warning signs homeowners can look for:

• Cedar wood shakes are falling out.

• Cedar shake roof ridge caps are deteriorating and falling out.

• Cedar roof has mold, moss and rotten shakes have become and issue.

• Cedar shakes are cracking and falling apart.
